Privacy policy
This policy applies to the SensorScope app for Android (package
com.sensorscope.app), published by franbenaglia ("the developer"). Effective
date: 4 October 2026.
Summary
SensorScope does not collect, transmit or sell personal data. It has no account, no ads, no analytics and no server, and it does not request Android's internet permission, so it cannot send anything over the network. Everything the app saves stays on your phone, and nothing leaves it unless you share a file yourself.
Data the app handles
| Data | Why | Where it goes |
|---|---|---|
| Readings of the motion and magnetic sensors you choose to measure (accelerometer, linear acceleration, gyroscope, magnetometer) with their timestamps | To chart them, compute statistics and the spectrum, and let you review them later | Read only while a measurement is running on screen. Each measurement is saved as a session in the app's private storage on your phone until you delete it. |
| Session details: the name you give it, sensor name and vendor, date, sampling rate, statistics, the display filter and any markers and labels you add | To list, reopen, compare and export your sessions | Saved in a database on your phone until you delete the session. |
| Exported CSV files: the samples of one session plus the session details, the phone's manufacturer and model, and the Android version | To let you analyse a session in other software | Created only when you tap "Share CSV", in the app's temporary storage, and replaced by the next export. |
| Technical log: errors and the start and end of sessions (sensor name, sampling rate, sample counts). It contains no sensor readings. | To diagnose problems | Kept on your phone, limited in size. It leaves the phone only if you share it from Settings. |
| The language and theme you chose | To keep your preferences between uses | Saved on your phone. |
The developer has no access to any of this data. The app does not read your location, contacts, files, camera or microphone.
Motion sensor readings describe how the phone was moving while you measured. Keep that in mind before sending an exported file to someone else.
Permissions
- High sampling rate sensors: lets the app read the accelerometer and gyroscope faster than 200 times per second on Android 12 and later. Android grants it without asking, and it gives access to nothing other than those sensors.
The app requests no other permission. In particular, it does not request internet access.
Sharing
The app shares data only when you ask it to. "Share CSV" and "Share technical log" open Android's share sheet, and the file goes to the app or destination you choose. From that point, that destination's own privacy policy applies.
Backups
If device backup is turned on in your Android settings, the system may include the app's saved data in your own backup, under your Google account. That backup is managed by Android and Google, not by the developer.
Keeping and deleting data
Sessions stay on your phone until you delete them from the History screen; deleting a session also deletes its samples and markers. You can remove everything at once, including the technical log, by clearing the app's storage in Android settings or by uninstalling the app. Because the developer holds no data about you, there is nothing to request or delete on the developer's side.
Security
Saved data is protected by Android's app sandbox: other apps cannot read it. Files you share are no longer under the app's control.
Children
The app is a technical tool and is not directed at children. It does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new effective date.
